C O U N T E R P O I N T in concert was formed by Alex Bumpas (tenor), Bernardo Bermudez (baritone), and Dinny McGuire (bass).  The trio has a special interest in introducing a wide-range of repertoire spanning all genres of music to new audiences in a new and creative way.  COUNTERPOINT's members are exceptionally talented and accomplished performers and musicians; they are graduates of schools and programs including The University of North Texas, Music Academy of the West, and Opera North, and have individually performed extensively as actors, soloists and collaborative musicians throughout the nation. The trio members have been frequent guest artists in music festivals nationwide, including The Music Academy of the West, where Bernardo and Alex first met, as well as the Cleveland Pops, where Alex and Dinny performed as members of the original hit musical-comedy, The 3 Redneck Tenors.

Latin American lyric baritone Bernardo Bermudez, raised in Venezuela, started his musical education at the age of seven at The Conservatory of Music Juan Manuel Olivares, in Caracas Venezuela. Currently living in the United States, his operatic roles performed include Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Silvio, Belcore, Papageno, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Vidal in Luisa Fernanda, Gianni Schicchi, Scarpia, Schaunard, Alfio, Aeneas, Mercurio in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Teniente Cantalapiedra in Cecilia Valdes, Count Capulet, El Dancairo in Carmen, as well as Morald in the North America stage premier of Richard Wagner's Die Feen, as part of Los Angeles Opera's Ring Festival. He participated as a voice fellow at the prestigious Summer Festivals at The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara California, as well as Opera North in New Hampshire. He received 1st place in NATS LA singing competition, 1st place winner in American Educators Of Italian Origin United, 39th Annual Opera Scholarship and Competition, finalist in the Burbank Philharmonic Hennings-Fischer Opera Competition, recipient of the Anne and Michael Towbes Scholarship in Voice, Opera Buffs Grant recipient, semifinalist in the Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition, recipient of the Doug Acker Memorial Vocal Scholarship, and 3rd place winner in the Virginia Hawk Vocal Competition. For more visit

Alex Bumpas is a tenor, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger well versed in classical and contemporary literature. Mr. Bumpas studied classical voice and jazz trumpet at the University of North Texas. While still in college, he began touring with Blood, Sweat, & Tears saxophonist Bill Tillman where he sang and played lead trumpet. Upon graduation, Alex joined the national tour of the critically acclaimed musical The Three Redneck Tenors. The show went on to be finalists NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Mr. Bumpas has been a soloist with numerous orchestras including the Cleveland Pops, Russian National Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of New Spain to name a few. As a chorister he has performed frequently with Vox Humana, Orpheus Chamber Singers, and most recently with South Dakota Choral as a featured choir for ACDA. As a Trumpeter, Alex has played with a number of top 40 artists including Taylor Dayne, Larry Willis and Steve Tyrell. In 2011 Alex also attended The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. He is also an accomplished studio musician recording trumpet, piano, guitar, electric bass, and voice for various independent and commercial record labels. Most recently he joined the roaster of Destiny Records both as a solo artist and collaborative instrumentalist.

Dinny McGuire has been Ringmaster for “The Greatest Show on Earth”, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and The Big Apple Circus. He is a classically trained singer and MC with vocal credits ranging from the world of professional opera and theater to singing ringmaster for circuses around the world. Dinny’s experience includes Studio Audience Warm Up, Sing-Along Host, Voice-Over Artist, Studio Announcer and Master of Ceremonies at the nationally renowned Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville Theater in CA, where he also served as music and vaudeville director. Internationally, he has toured Europe as a singer, was Ringmaster for the Royal Canadian Circus, and throughout Australia as Ringmaster and Illusionist for Silver’s Grand Magic Circus. Dinny also performed with the original hit comedy-musical The 3 Redneck Tenors as the Colonel and currently performs wherever the need takes him.
